Jerome Besancenot

Digital Transition Project Director
Haropa Port

Dr Jérôme Besancenot, PhD in Computer Science graduate from Paris University, is Digital Transition Project Director for HAROPA PORT (Le Havre, Rouen and Paris Ports).

Expert in maritime IT strategy and single windows, he developed a new generation of Port Community System (PCS) software designed to facilitate vessels and cargo transit through any port: S-WiNG ® (Single-Window Next Generation). This new concept improves the capacity of port organization to benefit from new trade facilitations while helping ports to succeed in their digital transformation toward “Smart and Connected Ports”; specially, in accelerating new technologies integration such as Big Data, AI, blockchain, 5G and IoT using a digital twin approach.

In this regard, ports digitalization also means to share and develop a cyber defense culture in the field of maritime, industrial and logistics activities. For this purpose, Jérôme Besancenot leads a community cybersecurity platform project for HAROPA PORT, a competitive advantage for the port in being recognized by customers as cyber third trusted party, therefore dealing smarter with digital transition.

Dr. Jérôme Besancenot is the Chairman of the international PROTECT Group inside IPCSA Family dedicated to port process EDI standardization. He is also a regular member of the International Association of Ports and Harbors (IAPH) and IMO FAL Committee.

Dr. Jérôme Besancenot has published into IT reviews several papers on computer science. He is also co-author of a book on transactional systems: concept, normalization and products.
